AUCTION - Big Brother - Janis Joplin - 1967 Poster - Napa CA - Excellent
This incredibly rare poster features Big Brother and the Holding Company with Janis Joplin, and it was for a concert at the Napa County Fairgrounds in Napa, CA. The Black Cat Bone Band opened the show, which was organized by After-Thought Productions—a great name! The concert took place on June 30, 1967, making it one of Janis Joplin's earliest performances with Big Brother, as she first joined them on stage just 20 days earlier, on June 10 of that year. This was the beginning of what would become a meteoric rise for the band.
The poster measures 11 1/2" x 17" and is in excellent condition despite some handling bends throughout. It has never been displayed, as there are no pinholes or tape marks. Printed on bright yellow stock, the colors remain vibrant. This poster is an extremely rare and obscure find; in over 33 years, we have seen only two of these. At that time, much smaller print runs were common.
