AUCTION - BG-222 - Jefferson Airplane - Grateful Dead Benefit - Grace Slick & Tuten SIGNED - 1970 Poster - Winterland - Excellent
Here is a set buster! This original 1st print poster was designed by Randy Tuten for a benefit concert for the Grateful Dead, who had recently been arrested for drugs in New Orleans, an event that inspired the Dead's famous song ‘Truckin’ from their American Beauty album.
This was a one-night benefit featuring the Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Santana, It's a Beautiful Day and Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks. Given that this was a one night benefit the print run was significantly less than the typical print run. That accounts for its rarity. The poster is BG 222 in the Bill Graham poster series. The poster was printed on a glossy stock and measures 14” x 21"’. Grace Slick has signed the poster in black sharpie! Randy Tuten has signed this poster in silver ink. The condition is excellent with half moon shaped handling bends and toning on the back.
