Here's a really great concert poster for a show by the New Riders of the Purple Sage and Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen. Artist Chris Frayne, whose brother George was Commander Cody himself, the founder, leader, keyboard player and one of the band's featured singers. Chris Frayne did a lot of work for the band. His work will be instantly recognizable to fans as he did the "Lost in the Ozone" album cover and more. Frayne's distinctive style really puts a smile on your face. Elaborate but not overwrought by any stretch, and wholly engaging as well. This show took place on May 8, 1974 at the Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The band played two nights in Fort Wayne, with a different lineup each day. The image is the same as the poster for the other date, which is pictured in the Art of Rock book on page 397, plate 4.197. The poster measures 15" x 20" and is in Near Mint Minus condition, with light handling , toning on right edge, a few minuscule marks and stains. A Chris Frayne classic.
