AUCTION - AOR 2.172 - Grateful Dead - Sore Thumb - Carousel Ballroom - 1968 Handbill - CGC Graded 9.8
This is an original promotional handbill for two of San Francisco's legendary bands, the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane. They performed at the Carousel Ballroom (which would later become the Fillmore West) over the weekend of March 15-17, 1968. The artwork for the handbill, created by Alton Kelley, features an intriguing image that resembles a hitchhiker's thumb wrapped in a bandage, earning it the nickname "Sore Thumb." It is pictured in the Art of Rock book on page 182 plate 2.172. The handbill has been CGC Graded at 9.8.
