AUCTION - Original Art - Rick Griffin - Airbrush Framed - 1980s Artwork - Near Mint

Offered for auction is an impressive piece of original art by the late Rick Griffin. He was easily one of the most talented and accomplished poster artists of the 20th century. Griffin did so many iconic posters that he developed his own pictorial vocabulary, which he used profusely, mixing the imagery along the way. This original artwork features a sort of Hopi round face fused with a cow skull. The two side-by-side images are essentially the same, except one skull is blue and the other red. Airbrushed exquisitely over a deep black background, all of which is painted on vertically aligned corrugated cardboard. The piece is beautifully framed and matted to match. Rick Griffin made this gorgeous artwork in the late 1980s. This beautifully framed piece measures 16 1/8 x 29", approximately in the frame, and is in Near Mint condition.
