AUCTION - BG-133 - Grateful Dead - The Who - Griffin & Kelley - 1968 Poster - Fillmore West - Excellent

This is a first-printing concert poster from San Francisco, advertising a series of concerts in August 1968 at Bill Graham's newly opened Fillmore West Auditorium, located at Market and Van Ness streets. It features an impressive lineup with both the Grateful Dead and The Who prominently displayed. The poster was designed by two of San Francisco's top poster artists, Rick Griffin and Alton Kelley.

This poster is one of the most popular from the Fillmore West concert series due to its striking size, vibrant colors, stunning artwork, the involvement of two legendary artists, and the prominent placement of both The Who and the Grateful Dead at the top of their respective columns. Other notable bands featured in the concerts included Creedence Clearwater Revival (who had just released their debut album), Quicksilver Messenger Service (similarly debuting), It's a Beautiful Day, James Cotton, Albert Collins, Spooky Tooth, and Cold Blood.
The poster is in excellent condition, with a bend in the upper left corner, a vertical stress line (see picture) and a small surface scrape just to the right of "Grateful Dead". It measures 28 ½" by 22".
