Here is what many collectors feel was the seminal event of the 1960s. It was advertised as 'A Gathering of the Tribes for a Human Be-In' at Golden Gate Park. This event, held in January 1967, is largely credited with starting the Summer of Love. Designed by legendary poster artist Rick Griffin, this event featured bands, poets, writers, activists, etc. Notably on hand were Allen Ginsberg & Timothy Leary. All the local San Francisco bands attended this event, including the Grateful Dead. This lovely black & white pen & ink drawing by Rick is extremely popular. The poster measures 22 1/2” x 14 1/4". It is in excellent condition with single tack holes in the top corners, handling bends in the bottom center, and light toning
