AUCTION - Rolling Stones - Original 1965 New York City Handbill - Academy of Music - Condition - Excellent

This amazing handbill was a promotional piece put out by legendary New York promoter, Sid Bernstein Enterprises. Sid was handing these out at his shows to let people know about upcoming concerts and events. This particular handbill is for an upcoming matinee appearance at the Academy of Music in NYC. Tickets were only available by mail, from the promoter. This 1965 tour was the biggest yet for the band. Big arena shows, with a handful of matinees added. Over a quarter of a million people bought tickets for this tour. Things were just exploding for The Rolling Stones and a matinee show was a coveted ticket, for sure. Sid Bernstein didn’t have to spend much promoting his show, just print up some cool handbills and wait for the mail to arrive. This handbill measures 2 3/4” X 3 1/2”. In excellent condition, with writing by the original recipient in 1965 at the upper left corner. The upper right corner has a light stain. Light handling, light edge wear, four places on the reverse, resulting from having been attached to a scrapbook. We have never seen another. Most of these likely never made it home from the show. A really rare piece.
