AUCTION - Ragamuffins Donna Summer - Psychedelic 1967 Poster - Crosstown Bus Boston - Very Good

This original concert poster is from Brighton, Massachusetts, in the Boston area. The venue was a short-lived second-floor nightclub called the Crosstown Bus. The show date was August 12, 1967. Headliners were the Ragamuffins. Opening the show were Boston area favorites Crow, who featured a versatile, precedent-setting lead singer, Donna Gaines, who later went on to worldwide fame as DonnaSummer. This extremely psychedelic artwork is by F. Murphy. Done in extra vibrant deep blue and orange, with a great negative image photo to heighten the psychedelic effect. The poster is so intense, it doesn't need a black light to jump right out at you! While only open a few scant months, the Crosstown Bus gained notoriety as the first place the Doors played in the Boston area, in the summer of 1967. They did two nights, Thursday and Friday, at the crosstown bus on August 10 at 11th. The Ragamuffins opened  for the Doors both nights but got to headline Saturday night, when the Doors had to go to New York. Very cool, very Boston, very scarce poster from an historically important, albeit short-lived Boston nightclub. Printed on cardboard stock, the poster measures 17 1/2" x 22". Condition is very good, with pinholes in each corner and a top center (hard to see), handling, stress lines, two long, thin surface scrapes, edge wear and four corner bends. The poster is extremely presentable and even more rare.
