AUCTION - AOR 4.167 - Wooldridge Park - 1968 Handbill - Texas - Near Mint

This rare handbill from Austin, Texas is for a free show held in Wooldridge Park on September 29, 1968. Five great local Texas bands: New Atlantis, Lavender Hill Express, Texas Pacific, Eternal Life Corp., and Georgetown Medical band. The artwork is by Texas' own Jim Franklin. His love affair with armadillos spans a lifetime and this piece is a great, hard-to-find example of this. In fact, it is the very first known example of a Jim Franklin armadillo promoting a show! Here we have one such creature with rolling papers, matches, and a few joints laying around, not to mention the one in his mouth. Exquisite detail throughout. This original handbill measures 7" x 8 3/4". The condition is Near Mint, with a couple of soft corners at the upper and lower left. This is an early Austin, Texas, Vulcan Gas era, very rare handbill.
