AUCTION - Strawberry Jam - 1967 Silkscreen Poster - The Ark - Sausalito - Very Good

Now here's an exceptionally rare piece on offer for auction. This is a hand silk-screened poster for a show at the Ark in Sausalito, CA. The bands were Strawberry Jam and the New Salvation Army Banned (who kept changing their name to avoid legal trouble). Really cool eagle, as well as the trio of strawberries hidden within the poster. The show dates were September 1 –2, 1967. The Ark was a retired paddle boat that ended up in Sausalito and became a music venue. Known for its late hours (8 PM – 6 AM), quite a few Marin County rock bands would end up there after their SF gigs were over. The Grateful Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service, The Charlatans, Big Brother and the Holding Company, and more all played unannounced at the Ark at one time or another. This piece is printed on heavy paper stock. It is likely very few of these were made in the first place. We estimate probably less than 50 were ever made. Attrition over time whittles it down to just a very few left in existence. This hand silk-screened, exceptionally rare Ark poster is in Very Good condition, with waviness, and a significant tear at the left-center (which could be professionally sealed), a small piece missing a few inches above the tear, the upper left corner is being held together with tape on the reverse and some printing stains across the bottom edge. This is the second one we have ever seen.
