AUCTION - FD-14 Silver Version - Big Brother - 1966 Poster - Avalon Ballroom - Very Good

This extremely rare poster is Family Dog Number 14, also known as the "Zig-Zag" poster, artwork is by Alton Kelley and Stanley Mouse. This utterly iconic poster features Big Brother and the Holding Company, with Janis Joplin having joined the band a scant couple of weeks earlier, and Quicksilver Messenger Service. Held at the Avalon Ballroom on June 24–25, 1966. It cannot be overstated how often this image has been reprinted, legitimately or otherwise. We are therefore quite excited to have a true original poster for auction. So many Family Dog collections have certain gaps in them. FD-14 is one of those "holes". This original poster measures 14 1/4" x 20". The piece is in Very Good condition, with pinholes at each top corner, the upper right has torn through. Bending in the corners and light toning throughout. A truly fantastic example of this astonishingly rare poster and it would frame up splendidly.
