AUCTION - So. Cal. Oracle - Psychedelic Art Newspaper 1968 - Excellent

Offered here is Issue number 9 of Southern California Oracle newspaper. Designed to look, feel, and read like its' San Francisco Bay Area counterpart. These Oracle papers are always so interesting. Loaded with art and articles. Just brimming with the exuberance and urgency of the time. Published in January 1968, so the times were nothing if not interesting. One of the coolest things about these newspapers are the ads. This issue features an ad by poster artist heavyweight, Greg Irons. He has done a radio ad for station KPPC. What is so cool is that a slightly different version of the same ad appears in the Art of Rock book on page 210, plate 2.260. Only the radio station is KMPX in the book.  Always a bonus or two in every issue, folks. So much fun to look at. Great split fountain centerfold. Thirty pages of time travel, really. Unfolded, this newspaper measures 14 3/4" X 12". This issue of Southern California oracle is in Excellent condition, with wear on the edges and spine from having been read. In remarkable shape, with great colors and a great cover, all of which shines, even after fifty-plus years. A treasure trove.
