AUCTION - Quicksilver Messenger - Country Joe and the Fish - 1966 Benefit Poster - Near Mint Minus

Offered for auction is an original benefit concert poster-themed "Everybody Loves a Chicken". The concert aimed to raise cash for the Telegraph Hill Cooperative Nursery School. The event was held at the Telegraph Hill Neighborhood Center in San Francisco, CA on November 27, 1966. Country Joe and the Fish headlined, with the Serpent Power, Sunshine, Gary Goodrow, A. Chicken (yes, a real chicken), Freak films, and a light show. All for a nursery school, folks! The truly gorgeous, washed-out design in light pink and light blue is by Mary Kay Brown.  Lovely silhouette of a woman holding a white orb and a rooster with magnificent feathers.

The poster measures 13 7/8" x 19 7/8", approximately. In Near Mint Minus condition, with three pinholes, one at the upper right and two at the center. Otherwise in beautiful Near Mint condition. Interestingly as well, the MC is none other than Howard Hesseman from WKRP in Cincinnati, RIP. Who doesn't love a chicken?
