AUCTION - AOR 2.173 - Fire  Dance 1968 Band & Kelley Signed Poster - Carousel Ballroom - Condition - Very Good

Offered here is a very unique poster. Some of you might not know the story behind this poster. The late Alton Kelley created many amazing concert posters throughout the Sixties. In 1968, sadly, his house burned down. Luckily, he had some great friends like Jefferson Airplane, the Charlatans, Steve Miller and Dan Hicks, who threw a benefit concert for him. It was called “Fire Dance” and was held at the Carousel Ballroom on May 6th, 1968. Alton Kelley has signed this poster in silver pen near bottom right. As a special bonus, four members of the Charlatans have also signed this in silver sharpie at the bottom. The band members are Dan Hicks, George Hunter, Michael Wilhelm and Richard Olsen. These signatures were gotten in 2015 at the final band reunion of the Charlatans at the Red Dog Saloon in Virginia city, NV. Even better, this is an uncut sheet of one poster and four handbills still attached along the right border. Pictured in the Art of Rock book on page 183, plate 2.173. The poster measures 22 1/2” X 28 1/2”. In very good condition with handling throughout. Restoration in corners and edges to repair pinholes and tears. Still very presentable.
