Now here's a gorgeous poster by the late, magnificent Detroit artist, Gary Grimshaw. This original poster, however, is from an awful long way from Michigan! This is for a concert held in Bogotá, Colombia at El Coliseo Gubierto El Campín de Bogatá. Superbly executed in muted dark reds and purples, Grimshaw's impeccable sense of design and sheer artistry really shines. Even the photos are tinted to match the poster's color palette. The show date was December 7, 1973, and the bands were Canned Heat plus the Chambers Brothers. Featured in the Art of Rock book on page 330 on the right side of the page. That photo, however, is black and white and does not do the poster justice. The Rainbow Press in a very small edition of just two hundred. The rainbow press was a Michigan adjunct to the Rainbow People's Party, founded by Detroit icon and White Panthers founder, John Sinclair. Elegant, pretty, and measuring 13 1/2" x 20 3/4", approximately. In near mint minus condition. The poster comes rolled and has edgewear. Colors remain true and strong. Lovely, harmonious Grimshaw peace. From South America, No less.
