AUCTION - San Francisco Oracle - Vol.1 #5 - Underground Newspaper - Human Be-In 1967 - Excellent

Offered here is Volume One, Number Five of the San Francisco Oracle. The entire front cover, done by Stanley Mouse, is a giant ad for the Human Be-In. Published in early January 1967, just mere days before the event. Iconic cover, to be sure, followed by a pretty neat mandala on the back cover by avant-garde artist Bruce Conner. Inside is an astonishing smorgasbord of counter-culture art and articles. Ads galore, for live music, clothing, and everything else an informed hippie might need to get by. The centerfold, to top it all off, is by the maestro Rick Griffin, illustrating"Renaissance or Die", by Allen Ginsberg. This tremendous edition of the San Francisco Oracle measures 11 1/2" X 16 1/4" and has 24 pages included. In Excellent condition, with toning from age, plus a horizontal fold across the middle. So much stuff in one issue!
